This is the only Salon I've found in San Diego County that has skills to execute hip & high end hair styles & color. Prices may seem a bit high when working with senior stylists but you really do get what you pay for. The cuts are so good that you don't need to have your hair cut as often as you may elsewhere.

In terms of atmosphere, it's a little bit Urban Outfitters meets Art Gallery & all the staff are very friendly. I was able to get a haircut appointment at the last minute with Kyme (pronounced Kim). I found her to be very friendly. I showed her a picture of the hair style I wanted and she asked all the right questions...do I style my hair, do I want it to be even on both sides, how long do I want my bangs, etc. I appreciated her wanting to clarify what I wanted.

The appointment went fine until I got out to my hair car and noticed that the left side of my hair was longer than the right side. Nothing, and I mean nothing, makes me more angry when this happens. I went back into the salon and told the receptionist about it, and Kyme immediately came out and touched it up and apologized while doing so.

Beware--the salon charges $10.00 (yes, you read that correctly), $10.00 for flat ironing your hair. I didn't know that until the receptionist told me to pay $66 instead of $56.

Cool salon. If you want a technically perfect haircut, ask for Jeff.

This is an amazing salon that is hip and stylish. All of the hair stylists are amazing at what they do and they are good at coming up with new styles for their clients. Most of this salon's clients are females yet they also cut guys hair also. When i was there, my stylist was a young girl named Rain who was really excited about what she does and gave me one of the best haircuts that I have ever had. However, it was a bit pricy.

Sometimes you just have to spend some money on yourself and it's worth it when you spend it at Detour. Not a cheap trip to the salon but you will be happy with the results. Great decor and knowledgeable stylists.

I went to Detour recently and had a good experience with the stylist. She did a great job figuring out a way to cut and style my hair that would go with my lifestyle and way of caring for my hair. She explained how to use the various products she used. She also gave me a sheet with all the products she used circled in case I wanted to purchase them later.

It was kind of expensive, but she did a good job. They have a little shop right next to/connecting with the saoln with lots of products as well.
