This restaurant is by the Petaluma River. They have a
outside patio you can eat on. They have a good selection
of sandwiches and salads. The prices are good. The
staff is helpful and friendly.

Their food is good, but a little overpriced. I love the outside patio which is close to the Petaluma River (which isn't the prettiest of rivers). It's nice to eat here and then walk over the bridge into downtown.

Dempsey's is located by the river at the end of the walking bridge. They produce their own tasty beer and delicious food. There is a large patio by the river where dogs can be tied to the fence to watch there family eat. It's a friendly atmosphere with a friendly wait staff.

We went there around 8pm on a Friday night and the place was packed. There were 7 of us and they don't take reservations on the weekends (and yes, Friday night is considered part of the weekend), so we had to wait a bit. Once we were seated, the service was good. My husband and I both had the flat iron steak with summer salad. Amazing! Peppery steak and fresh crunchy greens. I can't wait to go back and have it again. Another friend got the figs and polenta, which I tasted, and it was yummy too. Sweet and creamy, balanced with a saltiness that tied it together. For dessert the table split a creme brulee and a strawberry-rhubarb crumble. Both were excellent. The server brought our other friend the wrong port, but quickly replaced it and let us keep both glasses. She also brought us the wrong bill and even though it was less money, honesty dictated that we point it out. All was corrected with many apologies and despite all that, I can't wait to go back and get that steak again! Yum!

This has become a great riverside location. When the weather is nice(r), sitting outside, by the Petaluma river, enjoying an ale brewed on site and some really nice dishes put together by an efficient kitchen, it does not get any better. And there is plenty of parking. Still my favorite place to stop at every time I am in Petaluma and that, since 1991. Highly recommended.
