Arived around 8:30 pm and informed that there were no single bed non-smoking. I could take a smoking with same accomodation; or pay additional for a 2 queen non smoking. After brief discussion of that was not what my confirmation stated ...

On a road trip and stopped at the next town after dark which turned out to be Kimball. Kimball is a dumpy little town so we expected a dumpy hotel that was hopefully at least clean. It was quite a surprise to find it immaculate and that it had the best bed we slept on the entire trip. Ditto the pillows. Ditto the linens. We were not vacationing in Kimball (does anyone?) so never saw the pool and when was the last time anyone has ever had a great FREE breakfast included? They are always skimpy at best so nothing surprising there. If you gotta stay in Kimball overnight, I say stay there. I would.
