Won't go back
I don't understand why people rave about this place. I've been a few times and was not impressed but decided to give it another chance b/c of the convenient location. We had a party of five for brunch. Two of our orders were completely wrong so all of our food came out at different times. The portions were small. The BLTE (bacon lettuce tomato and egg) sandwich had TWO pieces of bacon and TWO slices of tomato. Incredibly ordinary food that was over-priced. When given a bill with a 25% gratuity added, we paid the bill only to be stopped at the door and told that we were given the wrong bill and that more money and a gratuity were required. We paid the correct bill plus 20% tip with a promise never to return. We were embarrassed by the manager's behavior and the way this was handled in front of our guests. Don't waste your time (and money.)

New Orleans fare at its finest
Dante's is one of New Orleans's absolute best restaurants. The shrimp and grits is to die for and you really can't go wrong with of the entrees. My favorite is the gulf fish amandine. I've eaten here at least 10 times and have never had a bad meal. And the staff is friendly and accomodating. If you live in New Orleans, you must try. If you are visiting, stop at Dante's after a streetcar ride to the Riverbend.

One of the best meals I've ever had!
I went back to New Orleans to visit my boyfriend and we were looking to go out one night and have a really nice dinner. A friend recommended Dante's Kitchen; for some reason I had never eaten there despite having lived in NOLA for years. Oh my god, it was amazing. From the soup to the molasses spoon bread to the scallops to the pecandine fish (not amandine because there were no almonds, but the subbed pecans tasted divine.) I especially want to point out how fabulous the service was, though. I make my living as a waitress so I am very attuned to the details of service when I go out to eat, and I have to say, the young chap was one of the best servers I've ever had the pleasure to be waited on by! The host was also very kind and personable and professional, as were all the other servers and runners who stopped by our table. Our waiter's name was Chris - go visit him and eat this delicious food and you will NOT be disappointed!!!

A Riverbend Gem!
My general impression of this place is that the dishes without oil (or with little oil) are fabulous and the ones with, or that are fried, are way too heavy. I've had several steamed, grilled and pan-seared fish dishes and found them amazingly light but full of flavor. As for the plates served during two brunches I had there (one chorizo dish, one omelette), both were swimming in oil and didn't have the delicacy and savor of the dinner experiences. But either way, the service is consistent(ly good) and the ambience, indoor or out, is casual elegance. As this review attests, I've gone back many times, and will continue to do so.

Not to be missed!
We visited Dante's Kitchen for the Sunday Brunch. No musical accompaniment, but the food and presentation and service more than offset this popular feature of NO sunday brunch competition. I enjoyed a blackened shrimp in red eye gravy, served over grits. If any place here in Michigan served this taste treat, I would drive there EVERY Sunday. My mate ordered the Andoulle Omelette, with Shrimp. Another awesome breakfast. The dining rooms are bright and charming during the day, probably highly romantic by night glow. We'll visit again when we return to the Crescent City.
