Healing for Menopause, Depression, and Stress
I was looking for a way in which I could heal my body as well as feel emotionally and mentally balanced, and spiritually connected. I saw a Dahn Yoga brochure at the acupuncture clinic I was going to for relief of menopause, depression, and digestive problems. These symptoms were aggravated by stress at work and my inability to effectively manage the stress in my life. Rarely did I smile.

After review of the brochure, I immediately called the San Mateo Dahn Yoga Center for an appointment. The headmaster’s voice on the phone was so calm that I was motivated to attend an introductory session that day to find out more about the classes. When I walked into the center and was greeted with a warm smile, I knew this is where I wanted to be.

The introductory session provided an assessment of my current flexibility, balance, body alignment along with explaining the main health principle based on oriental medicine. The personal attention and overview of the class format of simple stretching exercises, breathing methods, and meditations was exactly what I was looking for.

I began attending the 6:00pm evening class right after work 3-4 days a week. An 8:00pm class is also offered on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for those who may work late hours, attend late night classes, or simply feel motivated to exercise before bedtime.

After 3 years, I can honestly say that I have gone through menopause without any medication, my depression has lifted, and digestive problems are no longer an issue. When I feel stressed, I exhale a lot and do gentle stretches to relax my body.

The regular class is a great way to become more sensitive to the mind-body connection and for more in-depth training weekend workshops are offered. Dahn Yoga is the first step in a 5 step program called Brain Education System Training (BEST). I highly recommend Dahn Yoga to anyone who wants to be healthier, happier, and more peaceful. This program is the best.

Great resource for mind/body health
I’m a 50-something tech entrepreneur, I’ve been a member at the San Mateo Dahn Center for a year and a half, and it’s been a wonderful experience. I’ve lost weight, reduced my stress level, and increased my flexibility, balance and strength. I just got my lab results from my annual physical, and they show significant reductions in both cholesterol and blood-pressure. While there are certainly other factors involved in that success, I’m quite certain that Dahn is a major one.

Dahn isn’t my first foray into oriental mind/body techniques. Over the years I’ve practiced yoga, tai-chi and meditation. All were good but none could, by itself, do the overall job of physical and spiritual health enhancement I was looking for. What’s unique about Dahn is that it draws from several traditional Korean disciplines and blends them into a program that has elements from, or similar to, all three disciplines – and some more. It’s a very rare class that I don’t walk out of feeling refreshed, re-energized and re-centered, and that is the general feeling expressed by others in attendance as well. Another feature I really like is that classes run several times per day Monday through Friday (plus an open class Saturday), and you can show up whenever the timing works for you. Sure we know that preventive health care is essential, but life too often gets in the way. Dahn’s flexibility in scheduling has really helped me to make the time to take care of myself on a regular basis.

The Dahn system does seem to be priced higher than classes in just yoga or tai-chi, etc. Personally though I’ve found the advantages of a multifaceted program and the flexible scheduling make it well worth my while. If you find, as I did, that the benefits to your overall health are compelling enough to warrant a long-term commitment, then the lifetime membership option reduces the cost dramatically.

Yoga, Brain Wave Vibration, Meditation, Stretching
San Mateo, CA
5 star rating

The Dahn Center in San Mateo, for lack of a better word in English, refers to its basic training as yoga, but it encompasses much more. It originated in Korea. Greetings and general etiquette in the training space reflect its Asian roots. While it is not strictly required, the members are encouraged to wear the white uniform, remove shoes upon entering the center, greet the master and fellow members with a bow. For me, these formalities are elements that give me an added feeling of tranquility and peace when I train at the Dahn Center.

A typical session includes stretching, breath work, and meditation. Also there are postures for energy accumulation, circulation, and focus. Brain Wave Vibration-a routine segment of the sessions- was, when I first started, very foreign to me. Now, I enjoy it very much as a method to release aches and pains as well as to refresh and focus my energy.

On a given day, the master might offer training in Dahn Mu Do, a healing martial art which promotes skeletal realignment, increased vitality, and amazing muscle toning. It can be exquisitely sweat-inducing and relaxing at the same time!

The above elements of Dahn training are among my favorite aspects of the program and the reason why it has remained my primary workout for five years. I continue to enjoy a toned and healthy body, mind, and spirit.

I healed my lower back pain.
I really love Dahn Yoga. I had a sevior pain in my lower back and it bothered me a lot especially at night. After starting Dahn, I found the pain got reduced in a week and now it is even much better. I am really happy because now I know what to do. Before I have tried many things, but none of them helped me. I love it.

Dahn an excercise Cult targets Californians
On the surface, Dahn center embraces the world and preaches tolerance and exercise. All that goes out the window when you come out and engage them in pointed questions. Such as why did Dahn kill Dr. Julia Siverls through negligence? ...
