Won't go back, Rude Hostess, Inconsistant Service
I've been twice. The first time I called ahead to make sure it wasn't closed for a private party during the holidays. They said no, come on in. When we get there (8 of us) a sign on the door said "closed for private party". They said we could have a table for 30 minutes & kept dropping by to tell us so.
The 2nd time was worse. We were ready to give it another chance. We were meeting some people and 2 of us went to the outdoor seating & pulled a table next to another. The Hostess appears confrontationally & asks if she can help as she abruptly pulls the table back. I looked at my friend & said, I guess they are always rude here. She replied, & this is no lie. "Do you always rearrange the furniture at the restaurants that you go to? We consider that rude." We told her that we had 10 people & she said she could pull some tables together on the sidewalk but not on the patio because it was too crowded.
We would have left but 8 other people were meeting us so we went inside & spoke with the Manager. He was professional & said he would speak with her and that it would be smooth sailing after that. Where was our apology? We were just called rude by a hostess because we tried to move a metal table with no glass or silver on a half empty patio in questionable weather.
It was not smooth sailing. We asked about specials, & were told there were none only to find out before it ended about the happy hour food specials. 6 people ordered food & we had to ask for napkins & silver & the waiter forgot one girl's wine. We reminded him 20 minutes later.
The Manager did check on us & the waiter was cordial. The food was good but it usually is at Irish Pubs. They really need to lighten up, after all, it is an Irish Pub (upscale or not) not fine dining. People want to relax and enjoy themselves at Irish Pubs.
As we were leaving, we walked past the patio and the tables we tried to move were pulled together with 8 people.
