Reviewed from Yahoo! Movies: watching anything in the main theatre is a cinematic experience...where else can you still get popcorn for only a dollar!!!...my first choice of all the cinemas in northern california...

This is a really good place to see those indie and foreign films the large dome theaters do not show. A staple of K street for decades, Crest is also good for the Spike and Ike shot film festival, a must see.

I have been coming to the Crest once a year for the past 4 years to watch/participate in a performance called Derby Sing that a fraternity from Sac State puts on, and this is the best place to have it. There is plenty of seating, it's big enough but not too big that you cant see the stage well enough if you are sitting far back.

Sure the theater smells funny when you walk in, the carpets are ugly, but that's what makes it unique and gives it that old time look and feeling. It's nice to have something like this here in my own backyard I guess.

I was just disappointed though, when Friday night they shut down the bar at 8:30pm! haha

The Crest is a great place to catch obscure independent movies that the Tower Theater is not showing. Usually there are not that many people there, so you have this large old ornate theater to yourself. The theater conjures up what watching a movie in the 40s must have been like. Sometimes they throw shows for traveling bands or comedians. But I usually go there to relax and catch a movie when I am downtown.

A fine theater indeed. The larger screening room is better but it's a wonderful place that shows a variety of films.
