I can't believe Creature Comfort would get a bad review...
I have two 12 year old black labs that I have brought here for years. One of the dogs has severe skin allergies. Other vets treated the symptoms, Dr. Williams and Dr. Taylor treated the allergies. We changed the dog??????s diet and tried holistic and western medicine. Holistic didn't work for her but a combination of western medicine and a human food diet did.

The office has given me a list of places to get both western medicine and herbs on line at reduced prices and have encouraged me to go there as it was less expensive. They did this even though it was more work for them. They had to fill out a form and send the company I choose a prescription. They did this with no complaint.

Recently my other Lab developed bone cancer. Dr. Taylor treated Sara as if she was her own. She took x-rays she didn??????t charge us for and got an oncologist to look at the x-rays at no charge. She prescribed things to manage Sara??????s pain and when she had to be put to sleep Sara was treated with so much love and dignity.

I would not hesitate to recommend Creature Comfort to anyone! Everyone there is the best!

Beware of....
Creature Comfort Veterinary Clinic in Oakland.
It's a total rip-off!!!! They charge holistic prices but the approach to many things is the same as at any other vet's office.
For example: they charge $247 for a rabies titer test, whereas other vets charge between $65-110 (most expensive I could find after calling around), and all blood samples are sent to the same lab in Kentucky(the only one in the US), with the lab charging around $30 to the vet.
Also, holistic to me means that the procedure or service needed is done with minimal invasion and/or drugs, and with the pets health in mind first. Well, from my experience I can't say this to be true at all. They tried to sell drugs that are not necessary, and only by looking over the initial estimate, and asking questions about whether this or that was necessary, I was able to cut the bill by about a third, by leaving out certain drugs that weren't necessary at all. Well,I wonder what's holistic about giving a drug that you can get away without??
Also, when I called to find out how they justify their charge for the titer, I was treated extremely rude(to say the least)by their office manager, as to how I could possibly dare to ask a question like that. She said that after all the office was holistic, and that's why it cost more, even though nothing differs in the procedure compared to other vets' offices. This of course was not a sufficient answer to me so I tried to discuss this with the office manager whose attitude towards me left me speechless. She was condescending and I felt personally attacked.
Now, I know that we live in a free enterprise country, but to overcharge this grossly is nothing but extremely unethical business practice.

CREATURE COMFORT lacks integrity, big time!!!

Find another by Ken S. at InsiderPages
I would think twice before coming here. While I did get some decent information, it was really not much more than my primary vet. Just explained slightly differently. I also felt the vet was speaking AT me rather to me and she was not interested in engaging in discussion with me. In addition, only one staff member was genuinely friendly (I think this is a good measure of any business).

I was particularly disappointed by their prescription and dispensing practices. A nutritional supplement was prescribed for my cat. I was fine with that, as well as the fact that they dispensed it there. What I expected to receive was a manufacturers bottle of supplement and what I got was a medicine bottle with the prescribed amount contained within. Because the vet only prescribed half a bottle and it was dispensed in a pill bottle, I could not obtain a refund after finding out this supplement was commercially readily available on the internet at one-fourth the cost.

The receptionist did say..oh, we usually do tell people they can get this on the internet....well you didn't tell me, and being a concerned pet parent and captive audience, I purchased this supplement on good faith. I trusted them and was betrayed. I feel this dispensing practice was deceptive and this really sullied the entire experience for me.

Pardon me if I repeat or ramble, but I think you get the gist.
In sum, I will not be returning to this clinic and will be filing a grievance with the better business bureau.

Great alternative care by Kara H. at InsiderPages
My cat recieved some injuries that caused serious nerve damage to his rear quarters, leaving him incontinant. While he wan't cured, the accupuncture session he recieves has helped us both so much. He has far fewer accidents, and rarely has didfficulty with constipation anymore. I'm not sure he could have stayed inside without this help. They're the best.
