Excellent choice! by Paulette H. at InsiderPages
I started my two kids here (preschool & 1st) Beginning of Oct 2008 after my older child endured a month of public school. The instructors at Countryside Montessori provide a superb level of instruction & guidance. My kids are given high expectations and really thrive on showing off what they've accomplished each day. I like the level of parental involvement and the way the day is structured to allow the children plenty of exercise and positive peer interaction. My kids love it and look forward to going to school each day (a complete 180 from public school where my older daughter refused to even get out of bed in the morning). Overall I am very pleased.
I like that my children do gardening, have recess and are being taught to work independently within the structured day. Unlike the authoritarian/control oriented public school system, they are required to work things out with their peers before they go to the instructor. They are also expected to take responsibility for their actions and the teacher have made it clear they are available to me for discussion every day if necessary.
Additionally, my kids being required to finish their jobs (Math, Writing, etc) independently and having it verified by a responsible adult, teaches them to take responsibility for themselves in a way that I very much approve of and even encourage in my own home.

My younger child??????s shyness and reluctance to interact with others is
