Country Montessori School of Poway was our son's second home for primary through his elementary years. We are thrilled with the teamwork the school offers. The administration, teachers and staff work with the families to provide a warm and inviting atmosphere where children are able to work independently with a teacher in a lesson, in small groups or with a friend. This opportunity has made it so our child is able to transition into any environment with ease. If anyone is seeking a great school for their child, Country Montessori School is the ONLY place we recommend.

These reviews were all written by the same person - who happens to work at the school. This school is run by a parent board. Their power supersedes that of the weak and inexperienced administrator. The school is a mess because of this combination of factors. Longtime teachers are afraid to leave because of the tough economy for Montessori schools that are struggling to survive due to dropping enrollment. They don't want to lose their jobs. The children, whose parents are on the Board, are not always very well behaved, and this puts a real strain on how these students are dealt with. My children attended this school for over five years, all of the families who started attending when we did, have left. We were the last one to stick it out. Give the school a thorough look before committing your child's time here.

The school just won an award and I am not surprised. When we started looking, we went to all of the preschools in the area. This one was the one that made the best impression by far. While the other preschools seemed places to contain kids, at Country Montessori the kids were doing activities individually or in groups. For me it felt like the difference between babysitting and teaching. After our child finished preschool my wife and I decided to keep our son at Country Montessori for elementary as well. While Poway Unified Schools have very good reputation, we feel there is a significant difference in the attention to each child. His education is not just academic, but very well rounded. The school is a non profit: They put kids first and it shows.

Prior to the birth of our son, I spent several years teaching. Once it came time to choose I school, I discovered the best kept secret. Country Montessori School is wonderful. This school is located in the city of Poway. It is the only authentic Montessori School. The directresses are Montessori trained and adhere to the Montessori method. I am certain if Dr. Maria Montessori were alive today, she would recommend Country Montessori School as much as I do. If you are looking for a great non-denominational school to send your children, I suggest you visit CMS. They encourage parental involvement.
