Been There!
Obviously bayoubelle24 has never been to the "downtown" location of Country Day School: if she had she would know the 4455 North Blvd. location is 1/8 th of a mile from BRCC and located in what is known as mid-city,not downtown. More importantantly , what is described as a tiny enclosed playground is a lovely shaded area with a raised gazebo, basketball goal, commercial grade swing set surrounded by rubber mulch, and a brand new play structure scheduled to be installed this month as well as three other pieces of play equipment. Methinks it must be a fairly large area to have all that play equipment. Yes there are elementary students who use the playground, but at a diffrent time than the preschoolers: they are never together on the playground! As for the Silverside director lacking qualification, that is just hogwash. Licensure has very strict rules about who can be a director. I suggest you check out their Big Book of class "A"childcare regulations. You say you worked at this school? I think perhaps you were one of the afternoon college students with better things to do than show up for work. My son was raised at Country Day School and I am offended by these nitpicking critical remarks that denegrate this school and its hardworking staffs good name! That goes for you too, bronskrat!

Let me settle this out.
In all, it's a good school. I would say it's more of a daycare than a PK . As a former employee, I hate to see the entire center get a bad rap. Another post mentioned the high turnover rate. FIrst, that is not bec. it is a bad school, it is bec. the employees are way overworked and underpaid. The majority of employees only make minium wage! The majority of the AM teachers have been there for many yrs; however the PM teachers are generally college students who find better things to do than make $25/day putting up with with whiney kids & diapers. Yes, the ratio is often off, but primarily only bec. of poor pay and work ethic of PM teachers that often don't show up. This goes on at more places than you think! As for a safe environment, It is totally safe. The director has been there for many yrs, but she has absolutely no experience as a teacher. She was promoted from the cook to the director. She is a very loving person who loves kids and has great rapports with the parents, but is lacking in qualifications. The other reviewer was absolutely correct that other places have a much higher ratio and many chain places like Kindercare don't even have walls, just open rooms that may have 3-4 classrooms in a room divided by furniture making it VERY noisy and disruptive. Since there is not an owner at Silversdie on site like Highland and downtown, things are more laxed than at the other schools. I would highly reccommend Highland. The downtown location is very professional, but it's downfall is the small enclosed outdoor playarea that is shared with the elementary school. Silverside has a HUGE shaded playground with old oak trees. When looking for childcare I suggest just popping in several different times during the day. Most daycares will offer a trial day or a couple of hours for visitation of your child. If you are still leary about day care, then choose a school that has internet web cams. They don't have this, but many of the others do, but expect to pay for it.

Great learning environment!
This is such a wonderful school! I don't know what the previous reviewer saw, but I've never experienced anything like that in all my years associated with Silverside Country Day School. They actually have much smaller class sizes than other centers I've visited, the teachers and director have been there for years, and everyone (students and teachers) are happy every time I go. I highly recommend Country Day School everytime any friend is looking for a child care center. Make an appointment to tour the school and get on their wait list!

Inconsistent and dangerous
This day care, although A rated, is a bad place for your infant. There is high staff turnover, poor supervision, and consistently violates the law by not maintaining the correct baby to caretaker ratio, increasing the # of babies in the room and not having enough cribs for each one, using cots, babies falling down and getting hurt, unsupervised sleeping babies in a separate room, every week it's something.

Take your kid to the one on Highland. It's much better by far!
