Although convenient with tasty coffee and treats, the staff is definitely NOT picked for their knowledge of how a customer would like to be treated. When given my order in a to-go cup, I asked for a mug instead (as I had originally ordered it). I smiled and asked as pleasantly as possible to have my coffee in a mug. I was treated like a bother. No smile, no apologies. The gal looked at me, grabbed a mug, poured the coffee from the to-go cups (they double their cups for the heat, I guess) into the mug, threw the TWO cups into the garbage and turned her back on me (to continue pulling other shots and talk to her friend). I experienced similar atrocious customer service at the downtown location. I am 30 years old and work in customer service myself. I know that many companies are VERY concerned about their cashiers as being the front-line of customer service or the Face of the business. To me the Beanery has NO problem with treating their customers with little or no respect. I will NEVER set foot in any of their stores ever again. I highly recommend Coffee Culture for their awesome customer service! OR, down the street on Monroe, try the organic coffee shop, of which I always forget the name, but also has excellent customer service.
