Common Ground Theatre is a wonderful community theatre organization. It started years ago as Southeast Community Theatre and it is the oldest African American theatre company in San Diego. They put on quality shows every year that focus on the diversity in our culture. Their current show ("Waiting To Be Invited"--October 2008) is about 4 women in Atlanta in 1964 who decide to try to eat lunch at a whites-only lunch counter. They had a wonderful Christmas show last year and again this year called "Christmas is Comin Uptown" that is basically the Scrooge story set in Harlem in the 1970s. You wouldn't believe the music in that show and how funny it is! I have been to several of their plays over the years and they are always wonderful, rich, and compelling productions that can make you think but be funny and entertaining, too. Their shows are definitely worth the ticket price. Check out their website at www.commongroundtheatre.org and go see one of their plays--you won't be disappointed!
