One of our favorites in La Jolla
We come on half price bottle of wine nights which are every Monday and Tuesday. I like that their wine list is short and already reasonably priced (for La Jolla), at full price.

My ideal dinner is carpaccio appetizer, Come On In salad with chicken and a piece of either banana or coconut cake. Speaking of cake, if you need to take a cake anywhere or having a dinner party, call Come On In. You need a few days in advance. I'm not sure anyone around town has a better coconut cake.

We call in orders for take out all the time, especially for lunch. It's ready in about 15 minutes.

I've mentioned this regarding the other restaurants next door, but sometimes the parking in that lot is tough. I tend to come at off peak times since we eat out early with a toddler. I haven't had to park outside that lot in a long time. If so, you can park on Herschel typically.

Come On In Cafe
Visited the Sorrento Valley location actually, overlooking the canyon. Nice lunch spot. Bustling with office goers during the lunch hour.

Ambiance - Open, airy. Place fills up real quick. Come in early or pre-order by txting them to save time.

Food - Good. Portions are HUGE. We had a lot left over for dinner/ snack. The pastas come with bread and butter and are flavorful. They have a good choice of sandwiches, soups, salads and pizzas with Vegetarian options.

Service - prompt but gets slow as the guests begin to line up. But they have a flat screen TV and assorted magazines to keep you from fiddling till your order arrives.

Value - $$. I wish they could cut a bit on their portions and their prices and I would return more often.

Overall a good place for the occassional office lunch out.

Half Price Bottle of Wine Night Is Great
We really enjoy going here and have for years, particularly for dinner on their "half price bottle of wine nights," which they hold every Monday and Tuesday.

As other reviewers have already noted, the food here is excellent and is very reasonably priced (surprisingly so). And with half priced bottles of wine, it's really hard to beat.

My favorite appetizer is the carpaccio (a mere $8). For entrees, I really like the Surf & Turf ($20) and the Linguine con Vongole ($16). Between my wife, young daughter and I we've tried many of the items on their menu over time and never been disappointed by any of them.

We've also always found the service attentive and friendly. And when I ask for wine recommendations, the staff is always knowledgeable and never steers me wrong.

We tend to go here for dinner very early (around 5:30 PM) because my young daughter eats early. More than once we've been the only people there for the first half hour or so. I've never seen it full, even when we're leaving. That's nice in a way. But sometimes I wish there were a few more customers so we could "lose ourselves" in the crowd a little.

If there's a downside, it's that this restaurant is located in a tiny little strip mall that has a tiny parking lot with tiny spaces. As a result, it can be hard to find parking here at peak times. This is a particular problem on weekend mornings, I've noticed, if you go here for their (excellent and popular) breakfast.

I like to sit outside at restaurants where possible (and dine "al fresco," as they say). We have done so here from time-to-time. But the patio seating is out in front of the restaurant, so the tables are just a few feet (literally) from cars parked in the parking lot.

But we don't go here for the seating or the views. We come for the food and the service, and have for years. And we've never had less than an excellent meal here. Ever.

Good Breakfast Place
Come On In is a nice little cafe in La Jolla where you can enjoy a good breakfast or brunch in a quiet setting. The cafe is pretty small, but the staff is extremely friendly. They usually have specials on the big blackboard, so don't be afraid to try their new dishes! The food is pretty good, but not great. If I had to compare, I'd say Come On In was a shade under the Cottage in terms of quality of food. However, you don't need to wait an hour to get seated here, so this is the place to go if you are short on time.

A Breakfast Place that UCSD students don't know about
Come On In Cafe is super, super cute! My friend Kiku brought me to this place for breakfast in downtown La Jolla and I absolutely loved it. It's quaint and the food is really good too. I've brought a lot of my friends here for brunches on the weekend. The omelettes are all really delicious and special.

There is another breakfast joint called the Cottage just a few blocks away that UCSD students LOVE and rave about all the time. At the Cottage, there's always a humongous line, so it's nice that I found this cute little breakfast place not far away. The prices are great and the food is awesome, and there is never a wait. There are also tables inside or outside, so when the weather is nice, you can enjoy the beautiful La Jolla scenery. Come On In is the new secret brunch place that UCSD students should tell each other about. Check it out!
