So happy! by Christine S. at InsiderPages
CPAH has been great in helping me keep my dog healthy. When he needed to lose weight, they had great advice. When he was struggling with his arthritic knee, they helped with that. When he was injured, they gave him loving and compassionate care. You can tell they love the pets they tend to, and I wouldn't go anywhere else.

PRIMO superior service and medicine, #1 in Durham!!
I love their location, away from crowds and cars, best for pets that already sense they're "not in Kansas" anymore when they go to the vet. My load of critters love this vet...lordy, they've never enjoyed "vetting" so much :] Great geriatric care for the oldies, with calm compassion and helping them and me every step. Primo training advice for the new crazed pet, excellent monitoring (poor expereience in the past was eased when they took the time to explain the asst is always checking vitals, digital monitor is connected throughout anesthesia etc), explain their methods, protocol, and standards to the nines, and communicate with cats and dogs as great as they do with people. I like to say the "room staff" talk dog/cat, and the receptionists speak "pet owner." I've gone to over 10 hospitals in the last 10 years in the Triangle depending on where I'm living, what rescue or personal critter needs what service, emergency, and quality of care. I'm a repeat client at CPAH for the last 5 years. I go monthly with problem or consult and Allison Klaitman, Suzy Hughes, and Richard Hawkins are AMAZING docs, their staff of exceptionally kind and smart ladies causes my crew's tails to wag furiously, and they really have a great touch, judging animal reactions, symptoms, and truly listening to my input as the pet owner, who observes them daily, instead of relying so heavily only on what they see, hear, and feel in the exam room. When a highly technical disease/injury arises, they refer out to specialists, and still follow us closely, calling and emailing consistently throughout the ordeal(s). The efficiency, passion, and intelligence of this team of folks cannot be beat. Please take your pet to them and see, you'll be hooked as I and my cats/dogs are. Be sure to stop and smell the lovely flowers as you enter ;]

The Best of the Best by Joan M. at InsiderPages
I used to say I'd like to go there if I got sick as it's so much nicer at Colony Park Animal Hospital than any people hospital I've visited. My Ms. Kitty and I were there early mornings three times a week for many years for subcutaneous fluids and I saw all kinds of people and animals in the lobby over that time. Everyone was treated carefully and kindly, people and animals alike. Of course I'm crying now as I have no need to go there anymore since August 5, 2007 and I wish I did. I send thanks and a hug to each person who works there, especially Dr. Hughes who was my baby's special doctor many years for many illnesses and helped her live a longer and more comfortable life. Colony Park Animal Hospital by dana m. at InsiderPages
I found Colony Park when I was looking for a vet to do a progesterone test on my girl in preparation for an artificial breeding. I not only found a clinic that could do this for me, the vet took her lunch break to do it!.I found them so helpful that I went back to have an ultrasound done to see if my girl was pregnant. She was, and again they got me in and taken care of on the exact day we needed.A week before puppies were due, we had an ex-ray done - digital no less so I could take a copy home with me as well. The whole staff came in to see puppies the day we went in for dewclaws and puppy check at 2 days of age - 8 puppies!!I ended up switching vets because of their awesome service. I can't say enough great things about the clinic, its staff, and in particular Dr. Suzanne Hughes.

Eclectic experience and community feel
BAER tests, PennHIPP(Hughes), orthopedic/rehab (Hughes/Kapp), training ed (Klaitman/Hughes) re: handicaps, abuse, puppy, etc, and compassionate, personable rel'ps that ease loss (Kapp) are a few characteristics that come to mind. Their quality of service and recommendations are invaluable. They don't assume, and give you an equal opportunity to make a decision, with efficacy, cost, and other rating factors included in their recommended treatment options.
They do wonderful work with rescue groups (Hawkins!/Kapp) and breeders (a certain bichon breeder well known: Hughes), lower costs at equal care. Office staff and techs are friendly, capable, organized and compassionate. Managing the fearful pet is a challenge these pros take in hand with awareness and efficiency. AND they inform people of procedures, vaccine efficacy/risks, med side effects (v. impt, esp with NSAIDS), current diseases and population affected, obesity, diet options, physiology and educate as much as possible. Even assts denote the quality care of the vets they work with, a loyal sense of respect. Note: I see cleaning/sanitizing every visit, AM or PM.
CPAH also has legible, organized notes for my pets, as I'm obsessive and keep my own records of their health.
They also board pets, but I'm unsure of their kennel conditions, so n/a there.
