Dangerous Hygiene Practices and Bad Attitudes
Horrible. From the first moment I walked in. The receptionist was not polite or even cordial. The second nurse (intake) was fine, but did not take my blood pressure, which surprised me due to what I was being seen for (isn't that routine for everyone for any visit?). Then the worst part, the Doctor. He did not wash his hands or even use antibacterial gel in my presence (neither did the nurses, I was under the impression that hygiene was key in preventing communicable illness, as one would be treating at a walk-in). The room I was in had some sort of wound irrigation device attached to the sink, so it did not work for hand washing when I tried. There was no paper covering on the exam table, and I KNOW they did not wipe it down as the antibacterial wipes on the counter as they were dried out when I opened them. I ended up with a violent stomach flu the next evening, I have do doubt it was from visiting this facility. Unfortunately, the worst part of the Doctor was not his lack of germ fighting, but his smug personality and his lack of concern. The last nurse, who I did not actually speak to regarding my condition, but did deal with at check out, seemed to be very tired of working with the arrogant Doctor, the other rude staff members, and the patients; I think if she was not working through an office counter window, she would have physically pushed me out the door. But not before she collected my copay, of course. Turns out the Doctor is the owner/operator, and this is an independent office, so they can do as they please...apparently there are no sort of Department of Health guidelines that he has to adhere to nor do they care about patient satisfaction - they don't have to as most of their patients are in town briefly and not regular patients. Scary considering most of the patients are elderly, and the flu I picked up there would possibly kill someone with a diminished immune system. The main goal of the facility is to charge your insurance and collect your co-pay.
