Cogan managed my property for little more than one year. Tenants moved out and I was notified by utility company, not management company that I had a vacancy. Tenants were gone for over 2 months, yet typical management clean up was never conducted: bathroom left with excessive mildew; drapery system destroyed and not repaired; nails remained in walls throughout townhouse; stove, refrigerator, dishwasher and sink all left filthy; at least two screens broken/not connected to windows; and shelving system not repaired. YET, cleaning and repair company claimed to have cleaned. Was promised multiple times that work would be completed, but never was; "items" left by previous tenants in garage, on deck and in entry way never removed. After nearly 3 months of apologies and no rental income (I'm much too patient), I opted to terminate services with them. (I am living outside of the state and needed to fly back and forth at least 3 times to check on my unit personally.) Additionally, they contracted for work to be performed on my deck - paid ~$6K, and work was performed extremely poorly. Planks not tacked down completely, trellis system ripped out and not replaced (still sitting in garage today), paint only located atop approx .25" of planks, etc... I have owned several properties and never experienced such poor service from a property management company. I strongly recommend not seeking services from this company.

I will be reporting them to the BBB as well as seeking compensation for all the money lost during my time with them.

This company is a joke....DON'T MAKE THE MISTAKE OF GOING TO COGAN PROPERTIES FOR YOUR BUSINESS! I came to rent an apartment through them, and I have to say that both girls in the front office were extremely friendly, helpful, and professional. However, the other men that apparently run the company were rude to both myself as well as the other employees in the office. The have no problem breaking the law. They are sexist, incredibly unprofessional, and just plain rude. They seem to have no idea what they are doing! Save yourself the hassle from putting up with these losers!

This property management company is run by a very unethical man by the name of David Murdock. I use to live in an apartments building that was and still is owned by a notorious slum lord. Mr. Murdock must have been very hard up for business because I and other tenants witnessed him being verbally abused out at the property. It’s sad to see a grown man being yelled at by a miserable old lady and worst not having a backbone to stand up for himself. I felt bad for the poor guy until I was ready to move out… we set up a time for the final walk through and he canceled on me stating he no longer manages the apartments and that I have to do the final inspection with the owner that he knew we did not get along. It turns out that I never received my final walk through nor my security deposit back-but I did receive a statement that David Murdock signed stating he did the final walk through on my unit.
