Classic Carriage Tours - Good Guide, Awful Customer Service
We started by purchasing tickets from one of the curb side dealers. We purchased the tickets for $20 per person. We asked about pricing on the night private ride and the merchant stated that it was $100 but the tour did not go through residential at night. We thought it sounded good. He stated that it would have to purchased through a lady near the start of the tours. We headed over to inquire about the night tours. My wife was in mid sentence inquring about private rides when she was hushed by the merchant to ask a passing couple if they would like to take a carriage ride. Appalled by the rudeness, my wife asked once more and the merchant stated that the cost would start at $150 and scaled up depending on what we wanted to do and time lengths. We explained that we were quoted by another merchant for the company that it would cost $100 and she replied that was not right and that the other merchant should already know what the price was...No we are sorry for the error...No customer service. Before our ride began, the guide started commenting on the behavior of the horse pulling the carriage Maurice. He stated that he was very skittish. Skittish was not the word, this horse freaked out when passing large trucks or construction equipment. At several points in the tour, the horse reared on its back legs attempting to dart in some random direction making the guests very uneasy. The guide was very knowledgeable about the city and gave a good presentation. With all the competition, I would think customer service would be top priority. Being from a southern state, this was appalling and should not be a representation of southern hospitality. This experience has detoured us from ever purchasing carriage rides again.
