This is David and I happen to work here for quite a few years as many people know. To many of those customers out there, thank you for the support and business through all the years, we really couldn't have made it without you. I know we have a great store here and we try our best to please our customers. Like any other business we strive for great products with helpful service when we can. Sometimes we cannot satisfy every customer. This is reply to the post back in Dec of 07 that this particular customer this we are dishonest. First off, yes, this customer bought this aquarium when the manufacturer raised the prices by 24%, so we did sell the aquarium below cost. I called the manufacture about the aquarium supposed problem and they said it was fine ( they backed the lifetime guarantee on the aquarium) and that is what i explained since she hasn't even put water in there yet!. Yes, there was one missed date because the wood cap she wanted comes in from Dallas and the shipping truck didnt make it in time, but i promptly called the customer and let her know. I delivered the tank myself, (she just forgot to tell me its mention its 3 stories up), and I charged a way low delivery fee, definitely not worth it. During the tank company's manufacturing transition they did not have the stand it stock. Quite honestly I could tell she wasnt happy so I happily offered her a company check, she refused so I gave here a cash refund in the full amount. I thought this is the best refund all around - cold hard cash :) Us dishonest please, we r a small business trying to make it in a rough world, thats all. If I was dishonest I would definitely not refunded your $$. I even apologized and sorry we couldn't get this resolved another way. Truthfully, i didnt want to deal with the person regarding this aquarium, decided to cut ties and move on. Btw, i really didnt know about credit card rules, sorry cc companies i know now. At least I learned something. Cheers.

I shop here base on prices and what is available. The brothers are really nice to me and helped me develop my tank into a mural. You will find stuff that isn't available anywhere else.

I bought a 90 gallon Oceanic setup from them; however, upon delivery, I immediately informed them that the stand was warped. They told me it was fine. Upon checking into the issue, every resource stated that the stand must be plumb and level or the extreme weight of that much water would stress the seams of the tank and cause leaks. When I called them to have the stand exchanged for one that's not warped, they refused to exchange it, insisting on a refund instead.

I paid with a credit card, but they refused to do a credit card refund because they said it would cost them extra. Fortunately, I don't have finance charges so I didn't press the issue, but I could have done so with my cc company since what they were doing was against the rules. Instead, they wanted to write me a check. I was feeling leery of them at this point, refused their check, and we settled on a cash refund.

The reason the guy (brother #2) gave me for demanding the refund that his brother (brother #1) sold it to me for less than their cost and they were losing money on the sale. That's odd because when I bought the setup, brother #1 would not quote me a price until he called #2, and now #2 is saying that #1 sold it for less than he would have? I never told #2 that I was right there when #1 called him, but his story made it clear something was not right.

This was on top of several missed promises of delivery dates and that they could not get all of the pieces even weeks after their original date.

They were very unprofessional when I would not accept the warped stand. I think they thought they could pull a fast one on me, and when I didn't accept it, they demanded the refund. They seemed to be intentionally dishonest. As a result, I not only do not recommend them, but offer a warning to be careful buying anything that would require the honor any guarantee in the future. They may not honor it.

This fits with the other review of the switched bulbs. I do not believe they are honest.

the selection here is outrageous; the store is packed up to the ceiling with bird cages, bags of dog food, cat toys, you name it. i got a budgie here, and they are MUCH cheaper here than at other pet stores.

I would NEVER go here again. Although City Pets has a large selection, they have the absolute WORST service I have ever encountered in the business. I came in on a fairly slow evening looking to purchase a saltwater tank for my son's birthday. I was greeted by Donnie, who looked as if he wanted to assist me, but when I started asking questions, he seemed irritated and looked at me as if I was an idiot. Not only was he uneager to help, he passed me onto another staff member, who knew absolutlely nothing about what I was inquiring about. Not only that, i didn't realize that their closing hour was at 8:00, to have the lights actually turned off on me to "kick" me out the store! Unbelievable. Don't come here if you want great service and knowledge. Come here if you expect attitude problem and disorganization.
