Since I moved to the Logan Square/Avondale area a few years ago, I've been on a search for a reliable cab company. Checker Taxi is NOT it! I think I've placed orders with them dozens of times and never once have they been even close to on time. You think I'd learn my lesson and call another company? Well, every number I have for cab companies goes to this same dispatcher. Nice! Nothing like a monopoly. I can't even count the number of restaurant reservations I've had to cancel and apologies to friends I've had to make because this company can't competently do its job. WIthout exaggeration, it takes 1-3 hours to get an order filled. I'm not kidding....I waited three hours for a cab one night. And, the only reason I waited that long is that every time I'd call on the status, they'd say "ten more minutes." Of course, that's if and when the person answering the phone doesn't immediately hang up on you after being on hold for 10-30 minutes. I supposed they figure you should consider yourself lucky if it only takes a few hours since they don't even bother to show at all after taking an order at least 1 out of every 3 times. I'm right near the expressway, too, so it's not as if they have to navigate crowded surface streets. My experience is identical to every one of my friends' experiences with this company.

I HATE CHECKER CAB!

When the other cab companys have been really busy.i've had to resort to this company. the service is bad,they really do prefer to all be downtown and do not want to travel outside of that to pick you up. i have called them before and they have told me flat out to call another cab company as they prefer to service downtown or they have made me wait a long time for one. i've waited as long as one hour for them to come get me. also don't like to pick you up if you are going a short distance.
