Okay I suppose
My big issue with this place is that if you are not paying for their special suites, they put dogs and cats in the same boarding area. This upsets the cats and gets the dogs frenzied. They are not mixed where they could get at each other but the cages are often very close and they can certainly smell one another.

They will however, go out of their way to accommodate even if you need a boarding spot at a last minute. They are friendly but not so much giving a feeling of individual attention. Apparently they have an owner on the premises all night so thats good I suppose.

Overall just kind of middle of the road boarding place. Unlikely to be my first choice but far from being a last choice either.

Best kennel in Charleston
My 5 year old beagle loves to stay here. They spoil him as much as i do. He starts to get excited when we turn down the street! I know that when I have to go out of town, he is well taken care of. They are the only people I trust with my baby.

What do they pay the staff to do?
My parents dropped their three dogs off at this extremely noisy kennel and as a favor I offered to pick them up. When I arrived, all three dogs were sharing a small room with its own run. Now whether they spent their entire stay in that room or not, I don't know but that's where they were when I arrived. One of the dogs, with a sensitive disposition, had been sick with (a word that Citysearch won't let me use) that was caked and dried to her backside. The staff's response when questioned about it was "Had we noticed we would have bathed her..." How did they not notice that a dog had been sick especially when they were supposed to be walking the dogs on a leash daily (for an additional fee)!!! Also, a few dog toys were left behind by accident and instead of calling to let my parents know, they gave them to other kenneled dogs to play with.

Not impressed
I was not terribly impressed with my dog's boarding experience here. I typically board him in the PetSmart PetHotel, and have never experienced any problems. My dog tends to be a bit shy at first, but normally warms up. The staff at the Charleston Pet Resort could not manage to take my 8 pound dog on one single walk over his 2 1/2 day stay, and therefore he ended up having an accident in his crate. I was also told over the phone that the 'villa' he would be staying in was a separate room, away from other dogs. The 'villa' ended up being a cage in one small room, which was shared among 8-10 other dogs, in separate cages. If your dog is accustomed to other dogs, and not nervous about the boarding experience, Charleston Pet Resort would probably work for you. If your dog is more like mine, shy, nervous, and timid in this environment, I would definitely look for something else...
