My wife and I left my Car (Passat, 2001) at Charles Maund Volkswagen last Friday on Jan 18 2007 to check why the engine light was on sometimes. After the examination, a service advisor, Brant Hooks, told us that the CV boot of my car needs to be cleaned (he told me that it probably causes the engine light on) and the labor is about $240. We told him to go ahead to clean it. However, he told us on Jan.21 that they have broken the CV boot (I know later that they broke a screw on it) when they took it off, and the minimum price for replacing the whole thing is about $1300. Otherwise, my car would be kept disabled there since it was not drivable anymore due to the broken part. What can I do? I will not clean it if I know the final cost will go up to $1300. However, I cannot drive my car back since it was not drivable due to the broken part. I have no choice but let them repair it.
On Jan 24, Brant Hooks told me that the car has been repaired and the final price went up to $1561.47. When I picked up my car, Kenneth Prewitt at Charles Maund Volkswagen said the broken part itself should be responsible for the broken. David D. Kresta at Charles Maund Volkswagen claimed that they have broken nothing in my car, which is distinctly different with what Kenneth Prewitt and Brant Hooks had said. David D. Kresta also threatened me that my car will be charged $20 a day and sold after 30 days if I didn’t pay the bill. I have no choice and paid $1561.47 to Charles Maund Volkswagen. The ridiculous thing is that Brant Hooks showed me on the yellow bill that the broken part of my car is a screw which costs $1.58. However, he told me the replaced parts because of this broken screw include:

It is $918.34 besides the labor 98/hr. I attached the yellow bill. The black line was made by Brant Hooks when he told me which pats were replaced in my car. The screw they broken is highlighted by a red circle (it costs $1.58).
The engine light of my car is still on sometimes after I spent $1561.47 at Charles Maund Volkswagen. They didn’t repair the problem I asked for. Instead, they disabled my car since they broken a screw in the car, thus forced me to spend $1561.47 to repair it. I think I was extorted by Charles Maund Volkswagen. Please support me and give me a suggestion to get the fair back …
