I'll never go again by J P. at InsiderPages
I have had two bad experiences with this shop unfortunately. The owner is a very nice man, but the work was so shoddy in the 2nd instance, I just have to write.
The first experience was with a Burberry purse that I had picked up in Mexico. The handles were worn out, and I asked him to replace them. He selected a very nice leather - the color matched well, but he stitched them with bright yellow thread. There was no other yellow stiching anywhere on the bag, and it sticks out like a sore thumb.
My most recent and really bad experience was with a Sigrid Olsen purse that had an L shaped rip in the lining. I am rather deft with a needle and thread, but wanted to have an expert repair it. I asked the owner which would be better - putting a patch behind the rip and applying heat to adhere or to stitch it? He kept asking me which I preferred. I told him that I would leave it up to his expertise and that I didn't want to do it myself because I was A) afraid of scorching the beautiful Pucci-esque liner, or B) having little threads stick out if I stitched it by hand. I told him I would leave it to him.
My boyfriend picked up the bag for me later that week, and I was horrified when I saw what was done. It looked like there was packing tape over the rip - but it was the sheen of burnt fabric. There was some kind of material - I have no idea what - but it looks like sawdust sprinkled into the rip and melted. AND, there are threads sticking out of the rip. I was so angry and disappointed that this had been done. This is a purse that is not available anymore and it is ruined. I guess you could say that I ruined it by ripping the lining, so I don't feel a replacement was in order, but I am just so disappointed.
I will never bring anything back to this store.
