Awesome stay!! by Teresa E. at InsiderPages
Our daughter was born in May 2006 and we chose Central Baptist.. My first OB appointment was scheduled with a doctor in an office there and I had it rescheduled and boy am I glad I ever did!! Dr Youkilis was first class all the way.. He was extremely informative and was very helpful with any and all (and I had tons!) of questions I/we had. His staff (Rachel, Dana & another gal) ROCKED!! Although my pregnancy was very normal (minor placenta previa), in the end we had a c-section. This was our first, and after 40 weeks and no dilating, he scheduled an induction. He went above and beyond in my book when he made sure it would be when he himself was on call/duty.

The Mother/Baby area was great and we had a wonderful experience, with one small exception. Due to my c-section and my daugher having excessive fluid in her right kidney (hydronephrosis I believe), she was whisked away and I didn't see her for about 4 hours.. I can live with that, but what got under my skin was the Welcoming nurse who brought her to me/us. The nurses name was Delores and she had the personality traits of a snail in my book. For a first time Mommy, the way she brought our daughter to me was so cold and brisk.. Basically she said, here she is (no warmth/compassion whatsoever) and here is this/that, blah blah blah, turned on her heels and left..

Delores was my only dislike about the stay. I don't see how any hospital can have a staff member like her working in the Mommy/Baby unit. It really appalled me, and I had no other experience to compare it to. But, I did let the other nurses know how I felt, so I think word got back to her..

Now, DAWN.. Dawn was a shining ray of sunshine.. We had several nurses rotate in/out on shifts and we were so lucky to have her rotate in with us. We LOVED her! Having her made up for all the yuckiness I felt for Delores.

I wouldn'

Fine experience by Jennifer B. at InsiderPages
I delivered my 2nd child at Central Baptist in Aug. '05. I had a scheduled c-section. The surgery staff was fantastic -- very friendly and calming. My son had complications at birth and had to stay in the NICU for 12 days, so I didn't have the rooming-in experience with him. But the nursing staff was so helpful, caring and understanding... and they were so supportive, which I really needed due to his circumstances. I can't comment on St Joe's facilities, but I took great comfort knowing C.B. had an excellent NICU. (My first delivery was at an amazing hospital in NH. I had used a midwife and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Had to go surgical in the end, though.) I can say without a doubt that Central Baptist was definitely the right choice for me for the birth of my 2nd child.

birthing here is fine but St....
I haven't given birth yet but from what I've heard from friends & my midwife, St. Joseph East Hospital is the place to go to give birth. They are smaller which gives you more personable care & less wait to see baby after they do all the ...
