Disappointing
My family and I stayed at the resort on New Years Eve and a few nights afterward. We had stayed there several years ago, and had very fond memories of it. But it had gone badly downhill in the interim. Some examples: (a) our room had two fireplaces, but the handles and grates were broken on both of them, (b) the room had several chairs, but all were so uncomfortable that we could not use them -- it was as if they had been designed only for sturdiness and stain resistance, with no regard for anyone sitting on them, (c) housekeeping had neglected to stock the coffee supplies in the living room or the soap in the bathroom, (d) we moved a chair in the sitting area of the bedroom and discovered french fries and all other manner of trash under it (apparently housekeeping never moved it when they cleaned), and (e) the room service staff repeatedly messed up our orders. It got to be a running joke with my family, that whenever we would use something in the room or try a hotel service, we would ...

1/2 star for this horrible hotel
Where to start? Our room was not ready, even though we requested an "early arrival" a week in advance. The only room available was a "handicapped" room (#142, everything is a lower level). The room smelled like smoke. The fireplaces did not work properly, so we find the reason why the rooms smell that much like smoke, to the point that we needed to move to a different room. My 13 months old baby had problems breathing with that much smoke in the room. They moved us to room 156, with no hot tub and 1 fireplace, which we did not use to avoid another breathing problem. The tv's in the room where super small, and finally we had an ant problem. The rooms and furniture are old. In a few words, they charge like a 5 star hotel for a 1/2 star hotel (being nice).‎

When are the new owners going to renovate...
what have been and could be the best rooms in the Western US? It isn't like they don't have the resources! I guess they also learned an expensive lesson in the timeshare business. Stick to the roots of the property and deliver the product and services ...

Huge suites await the weary traveler....
Quiet, peaceful grounds. Close to Carmel but away from the noise too. Great spot for relaxing. Exercise area is quite small and hot pools not too appealing, however. ...
