First, I just want to point out how ludicrous it is that one reviewer would make outstandingly polite service into a negative thing. This is what sets Caribou Coffee apart from other places. I don't spend $3-4 on a cup of coffee very often, so when I do, I want to get the most value for it. The coffee IS wonderful, and the employees just take the experience over the top with consistently wonderful attitudes. Again I don't go there often, so sometimes I need help making a selection. They are always happy to explain the choices and help me pick something I'll love. This location is great, but I've never had a bad experience at any location, so as a business they really do something right when it comes to hiring and training. It's wonderful that in this economy there are still companies who understand that hospitality doesn't have to suffer!

All I have to say about this place is, Uhh.... Upon entering, you're immediately greated but an overzealous and exceptionally annoying staff. What is it, some sort of prerequisite to hire the most high strung staff possible? Seriously, these people ARE NOT HUMAN! I thought they were being facetious at first. But they did not drop the facade the entire time. I didn't know whether to stare in disbelief, laugh hysterically in their faces, or just smile politely and order my coffee.

Once you get beyond the pod-people employes and actually receive your coffee, you'll more than likely find yourself unsatisfied. Atleast, I was... I've never had coffee this loaded with sugar. It's like, Hey, would you like some coffee with you 16 oz of sugar? Maybe that's why their employes act the way they do... Hm, I do believe I have just solved this mystery.

PROS: I guess it's amusing to laugh at the employes...
CONS: Everything else.

I won't pretend to be a coffee afficianado but I will say that I truly enjoy the Caribou coffee houses. The one in Grandview reminds me so much of the huts on the Appalachian trail in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Fireplace, wood benches and tables, bookshelves filled with interesting reading, etc.... Keep to yourself or talk with others. Just a really nice place to sit with a friend or a book and have a quiet cozy evening. The one in Worthington is a little more trendy but still has the cozy feel. Grab the chairs by the fireplace and you'll never want to leave. Caribou also has good cakes, pastries, etc...as well as coffee.
