Capt Slates A+ Already booked to come back!‎
After checking out these reviews, I was a bit surprised at some of the negative posts, as I've dove with Atlantis before (but it's been awhile). I like to decide for myself - not rely on one particular day (especially during Winter Weather) in anyone's comments (no offense!). There's been a few changes - not only Management, but also Captains and Crew Members. I was out for 4 Dives over 2 days with Captain John (Yes, he's back!) and DiveMaster Jim were most courteous, both the Dock Boat Safety Briefing and Site briefing were thorough. Day 1 Diving conditions were right on the mark as to what Capt John stated prior to departure. Light number of Divers and very personalized attention! (BTW not many FL Divers brave the cold)! Day 2 was a bit bumpier and all of us were made aware of it by Capt John prior to heading out (so you can always make your own decision). I already plan to come back during Spring and Summer for warmer water and as with any Dive Op I'm sure ...

Disregard to Diving Conditions‎
Having read the reviews of Captain Slates dive center (after our dive) the negative opinions were true. We took a twin dive afternoon package and the windy and rough conditions clearly should have been avoided as we watched other dive operators positioned in the shade of the 3 to 4 ft waves. Four of the twelve aboard were visably sick overboard but no crew member gave a toss. We ommitted our 2nd dive as did others due to sickness. One of the crew members was asked about a freshwater shower and his responce was that they had asked Cpt Slate for a replacment pump 6 months previously! At all other dive centers we were given a briefing before each dive. This one could not be bothered. When under water we were left to our own devices to wander around. These guys are only interested in taking your dollars.‎

January 2007‎
Our crew from Etobicoke Underwater Club (www.euc.ca) go out with Capt. Slate several times annually. Top notch operation, and Creature Feature to boot! Capt. Slate is a fixture in Key Largo, and bigger than life in person. He was one of the key movers in the Spiegel Grove project. That in itself is a must see!‎

November Dive at Captain Slate's‎
Just dove with them last week. Had planned to dive with another outfit and had just drove down from Naples early in the morning. They cancelled, so I jumped on my computer and found Captain Slates Atlanta Dive Center! It was a excellent adventure, these guys will go out when other dive centers stay on the dock due to swells. They wont put you in an unsafe environment however, it was rolling seas up to 5 feet and strong currents on the reef. The dive was terrific on Molassas reef, great visablility and strong current, saw a nurse shark and several baracuda. - ask about the creature feature on Friday Mornings! Make certain you check out the discounts on their website! (I missed those, darn!) Crew is personable and extremely experienced. Dive with Elmo or Dave! Id go back in a heart beat. Good Luck! Good Diving!‎
