When I first started CDC, I knew nothing about dance what so ever. The last time I danced I was 2 and my technique was terrible. Once I came here, my jazz teacher helped me with anything I didn't understand and I felt very comfortable. Also my peers were fun and friendly which made me feel at ease with being around new people. I felt so comfortable here at CDC that I left my comfort zone of jazz and went to ballet. I love ballet. My ballet teacher is serious yet fun which makes me want to do my best, but have fun while doing it. CDC has made me love dance and appreciate what it stands for. Anyone who goes here will experience fun and enjoy dancing. You'll never want to look back.

I took my daughter to classes at this studio for a couple of months. The teacher was fabulous and the staff was very kind. My daughter was really disruptive and I decided to pull her completely from dance. The teacher, who had to struggle with her the most, encouraged me to not pull her, which was very kind of her. When my daughter matures, I will bring her back to Capitol Dance to resume lessons.

I have to say that with the varying experiences I have had dancing through out the years, I have not come accross another company like CDC. I look forward to heading to the studio because I know I am coming into a great atmosphere where I can learn and challenge myself as well as share my love for dance with my peers and with the instructors. Dance is an amazing mix of expression and reality blended in with technique and trainging. The studio's main goal is to unite these elements and teach them to generations to come. CDC is always trying to provide as many options to their students, which can only make for a well rounded experience. Having been absent from the studio for a short while, I have come to realize upon my return that I feel at home. Being owned and taught by a family which lives for the studio is reason enough to enjoy their classes and to benefit from their staff's expertise.

I decided to try out one of the adult classes this week. Excited to learn how to dance, I was met with a teacher who's FIRST WORDS out of her mouth were not to introduce herself, but to YELL at the class (now mind you, we are all older adults) that we are not allowed to speak when she is or throughout the class. She had a crappy attitude, was rude and ARROGANT as hell!This is RIDICULOUS! I am a grown woman and do not need to pay $55 a month for someone to tell me that I cannot enjoy myself with the other women in the class. I was supposed to do this for FUN, not to be disciplined like a 2 year old.Let's also add that when you are made to dance from one side of the room to the other, if you stop in the middle, she will stop the class and make you perform it BY YOURSELF in front of the entire class! I felt so horrible for this one shy lady who stopped in the middle because she got the steps confused. The teacher STOPPED THE CLASS, made her walk to the middle of the studio and perform the steps BY HERSELF in front of the entire class. The woman was near to tears.If you want something fun to do with your friends, make fun of yourself trying to learn how to dance and have a good time, THIS IS NOT THE STUDIO FOR YOU. They are WAAAAY too serious.

I have been with CDC for most of its 30 years in business and am thrilled with level of education and experience it gave me and now my own daughter. It has a wonderful family atmosphere and is always positive and professional. Capitol has wonderful and educated teachers and so many opportunities for dancers from full productions to competition teams, Performance Awards for serious ballet students, and of course the best instruction in the Bay!
