Now I know why the lady who gave me my x-rays was so over her job. A first it wasn't bad, excusing the half hour wait after I checked in for my appointment. I had x-rays done, and then was sent to a nice room where I awaited the Doctor. That's when they laid it on me, I needed an immediate root canal as well as a crown once that was done. On top of that they recomended that I go with the more expensive procedure options on each one. I understand that obviously sometimes the solutions that cost more money are better because high quality= higher price, but instead of walking me through everything they expected me to know what a 19 was, including all the other dentist lingo presented on the page alongside the prices, and this is where it all began. She handed me a sheet of paper that explained the thousands and thousands of dollars that the 'best choices' would cost. When I asked her if they could help me with my pain level(due to the fact that I would not be able to see the referall for the root canal for a few days, and the plaque was eating my nerve) she told me that she could hook me up with some ibprofen, wonderful. Let it be known that prior to my appointment I made sure there was going to be a Dentist who could prescribe me with proper meds to make sure I could eat, talk, even live with the pain. At this point, I was looking a the thousands numbers getting bigger and bigger and this useless excuse of an emergency appointment. I started to freak a little. I walked out of my room and went to the front desk where I was to await my referal for a root canal proffesional who was available immediately. I told her how I don't know when I can afford to get a root canal as I am a student with a part time job and a new born baby. She then took it upon herself to announce in front of her other four co-worker's in the front of the office how she cannot believe I can't come up with the money when this was my teeth, that she couldn't understand how coming up with a few thousand dollars was a problem. Apparently the location of Encinitas has made these girls unaware to the fact that not everyone who lives in this town has thousands of dollars lying around. I called the number they gave me and the dentist said he couldn't make the root canal appointment until next Wednesday. One of the other girls offered to find another one, so this is when I apologized for freaking out, explaining that I was just over-whelmed and still not completely comprehending what the piece of paper full of money prices meant. I told them I knew it wasn't fair for me to put it on them and I was sorry if I had offended any of them at all. Instead of an empathetic response, preferably an apology on her part, I got a nasty snear, and she walked into the back room with another one of the girls. While the nice one was helping me, I heard the nasty one and her friend talking about me in a whisper and laughing. At this point, I really lost it. I felt like I was being completely degraded. I was not good enough for their business, I was a young strugglying mother in their eyes, and because I did not have thousands to give away without a few tears I had no business being in their dentist office. After figuring out my plan with the nice one, I high tailed it out of there, ready to kill anyone who gave me a cock-eye, which was not hard as at this point as I was blubbering harder than my four month daughter does. I felt a feeling I had not felt since I can ever remember, I felt completely inferior. Even writing this, I cannot believe the treatment on her part, and I am writing this in the hopes that maybe this will save someone else who isn't a millionaire from the emabarrasement of having your financial situation put on blast.
Pros : located right next to my bank
Cons : the girls with such a strong crave for drama you would think they had just graduated middle school.People who don't have enough going on in their lives so they deem it important to make you feel like crap so they get a boost.
