Cali Pizza certainly loses to next door's Village Pizza. The staff of Cali has no heart, and it shows when they give you an amazing pie one order and an unbearable one the next. Their saving grace are the California Fries, which are amazing for anybody that likes bacon and ranch. Even these are hit-or-miss as far as quality goes. Also, they use breaded chicken in their buffalo chicken sandwiches and pizzas, and it's pretty damned nasty.‎

I assume a good pizza place has fresh, quality ingredients and ovens at the right temperature; California Pizza has neither of these. In fact they have a conveyor belt oven instead of a traditional pizza oven. They do make other food, but so far none of it has exceeded average nor has it been notably distasteful. The prices really aren't "cheap" and if it weren't in the middle of several thousand college kids this place would have been out of business years ago.‎

When in West Philly, avoid New California Style Pizza - this place is really, really bad.

Have had the misfortune of having pizza from here a couple times when visiting friends.

Do not waste your money.

Some of the best pizza in university city! Delivery used to be quick (under 30 minutes) but has gotten very slow.... almost 2 hours when ordering late night.‎

I favor the chicken cutlet hoagie with lettuce, tomato and sweet peppers. Of course they make tons of pizza at cheap prices. They are large thin crusts. And of course their late hours are great for students who seem to be awake at all ...
