Salsa, tropical & rock en espanol
Cafe Sevilla has been around forever, this can be considered the place to go for salsa and latino music. Not much has changed over the years, its always packed, and the club is underground so sometimes once you go down the stairs and enter the club, you might notice a smell of people and poor ventilation. But once you're inside, you don't notice it anymore, especially after the drinks start coming.

They have certain nights of the week are dedicated to salsa, to tropical music, rock en espanol and saturdays is a little bit of everything. This place can be pricey since you have to pay for the expensive downtown parking and there is a cover charge to get in, so you might be out $20 - $40 before you even get your first drink. But it can be worth it to dance the night away.

This romantic little Spanish restaurant is a perfect date restaurant. The food is authentic and the ambiance is surreal. They have the sealing painted like the Spanish night sky. You feel like you're dining at a typical outdoor Spanish restaurant in Spain. The staff is very accommodating and the paella is the best I've found. Their selection of tapas is large and varied.
Pros: romantic ambiance, authentic Spanish cuisine. Lot's of tapas and good paella
Cons: slightly expensive
Price Range: $25 - $50

good but not great
This was the first restaurant I ever went to when I moved to San Diego. Its appeal is great nice mood lighting, sexy ambiance, excellently trained servers and staff! And the Sangria is to die for! The food was good but I was expecting it to be phenomenal. It looks very tasty on the menu as it's described but not executed quite as well. It's best to make reservations at least a few days in advance or else the line looks very long to stand in. this place is downtown so there's no parking but it's a short walk from Horton plaza's parking structure.

Great experience
I went to cafe sevilla for my birthday and it was great. The waitress was on top of everything. At the begining I had no idea what to order. But the waitress was very helpful and was able to fully explain the menu to us. All the recommendations were awesome. I particully liked the tuna tartare tower, lamb brocheta, manchego cheese mash potatoes and off course the Paella Valenciana. The restaurant was romantic in its own way. I have recommended this restaurant to my co-workers and family members. There is not one bad thing to say about my experience at Cafe Sevilla. The waitress came out with a flourless chocolate cake with a sparkling candle on top. I will certainly be going back to Sevilla very soon.

Ole! Latin Dim Sum
Cafe Sevilla is a great place to eat, meet and have fun while munching out on tapas. Tapas are akin to Dim Sum, in that they are appetizer-sized servings on little plates, consisting of a wide variety of food, from meats to veggies to seafood and any creative combination in between. Cheeses, meatballs, olives, lamb skewers, shrimp - you name it, there's a tapa for it. I would recommend ordering the combos and/or sampler platters. You'll get a nice variety of tapas and it will save you a little cash as opposed to ordering everything separately.
The atmosphere is beautifully adorned with a Spanish flare: painted frescoes on the walls, terra cotta tiles, wooden tables. There's live music usually when I'm there on weekends - sometimes a flamenco guitarist, other times a vocal group accompanied by instruments. When it's crowded, it can get loud!
There's a bar and they offer a variety of sangrias by the glass, by the pitcher, and, by the barrel! There's also Mojitos, but I love their Martinis. The best time to go is during their Happy Hour (5:00 - 6:30) where selected tapas and drinks are 1/2 price, (selection changes every day on the drinks). Ole!
