Great Duck!‎
My wife and I recently dined there and both ordered differnt preparations of the duck based on the fact it was the specialty of the house. We both thought the food was excellent! We had very good service, but since there were very few customers in the restaurant due to the "Danish Days" activities in Solvang, that might not be reflective of how service would be under busier circumstances. The owner spent a lot of time at our table sharing stories. It was a terrific dining experience.‎

Horrible Experience
Only wish I had checked reviews before eating there last week. Or maybe I should have taken a hint when the place was almost deserted while other restaurants were bursting. Some of the food (escargots, one duck dish) were actually very good, others were quite disappointing for the price ($30 and up).

The owner himself however is what is taking the cake here; I "dared" to tell him that we were disappointed when he came to the table to ask how the food was. He flew off the handle, picked up the meat with my fork, slammed it back onto the plate and started to curse and insult us, and all in front of our 2 year old. I actually had to get up and ask him to leave our table, but he kept coming back out of the kitchen and kept at it. At that point, it became a shouting match and we simply paid the check and left. The hostess was very apologetic, but clearly the chef/owner has a customer relations problem, as we do not appear to have been the only time he lost his temper.

Never experienced anything like that in a restaurant before and certainly hope will never have to again.

The best duck I've ever had!
This restaurant is a special find in a quaint little town. Not only did they have the best duck I?ve ever eaten, the service and atmosphere was kind and refreshing. Be sure to request a song from the talented pianist that serenades you while you dine to make your dining experience a perfectly romantic one. I recommend this restaurant to anyone making a trip to the central coast.

best duck in the state
Not many people like duck, but if you do, this is the place. The ambience is relaxing, and romantic. The other food is also good. In this little town of Solvang, this is quite the romantic... ...

They don't have their act together. Terrible service!
We made reservations for 5:30 pm and got there on time. One of the waiters sat us at a four-top, which would have been fine, but we were a party of 5! They had two of the chairs positioned at two of the corners of the table! We asked the manager if we could move to a five top round table in the restaurant. She said yes, but that she would need the table at 7:30 pm.

Keep in mind, when we got to the restaurant, there was one couple in the dining room and one other couple on the patio. 2 servers and one manager were on duty when our whole experience started. It took 15 minutes for someone to offer us some water. I eventually said kind of loudly :) "Do we have a server?" And the terribly male server asked us if we were ready. He asked us if were ready in a surprised tone of voice. Yes, we were ready. We've been at our table for 15 minutes already with no water, in a practically empty restaurant!

The people that I was with liked the filet mignon and salmon. The vegetarian pasta was disgusting. No flavor, I felt like I was just eating oily noodles.

Around 7:10 pm, we received our check. At this point, the restaurant was getting full and they added one more server. 10 minutes later our waiter picked up our check and credit cards. 5 minutes later we flagged down another server and let her know about the coupon we had. Another 10 minutes later, we had to ask the manager for our check. 5 minutes later she gives it to us. Do you think our discount was applied? NOPE! UGH!!!! It took us 25 minutes to get our check paid correctly. And while we were there, the same male server we had dropped off a check to a couple sitting next to us. They had not gotten their food yet and he handed them a bill. That woman loudly said "What the F___?" This place seems terribly unorganized, it's not that they are understaffed, I do believe they don't know what they're doing.

This place is bad.
