Aside from their extremely high prices, which still are affordable for several San Diego residents who live in the expensive La Jolla/San Diego area, their quality and the employees who work there are very wonderful. The hot food there, including the meats and pizzas, are great quality and definitely not old compared to other cafes and delis like Whole Foods and Vons. However, like I stated before I would not mind if the prices were just a little cheaper because the average college student cannot afford buying produce and groceries at their expensive prices. That is why I only buy hot food and not groceries from there.

Allow me to climb aboard the overpriced bandwagon. Stopped by BF tonight to pick up a couple things and couldn’t believe some of the prices; I think the most outrageous was the avocados priced at nearly $3 each. I will say that their butcher section has some pretty high quality offerings (again, you’ll pay for them) and their hot foods/café has good stuff, as well. Not sure if they’re still doing it, but once a week the café used to host a 3-4 course wine and food pairing for ~$20. The food wasn’t terribly amazing most of the time, but it was still a fun way to spend a Tuesday night.

Please, do yourself a favor and do not shop at this grocery store if you need groceries and go to the Whole Foods or Ralphs right by instead. This store is completely over priced and the employees who work there act friendly to all the old people simply because they want their money. They really do not care about the customers at all and I feel very bad for all the senior citizens who walk in each time to the café to get something to eat, only to see the employees there practically stealing their money. They charge them for any and every little thing. I would never shop there if I was you.

I have been a couple times because i was in the area and will never come back simply because Whole foods, Trader Joe's and even Von's or Ralph's is much better. The prepared foods section does not compare to Whole foods and the place just has a bad vibe, there is almost never anyone there unlike those other places i mentioned above. I would not recommend this place.
