A great restaurant for a nice evening out. You can never go wrong with the Brigantine or any of their locations. Very reasonable prices, great seafood selection and a very friendly staff. Love the old school nautical feel of it.

I love the Brig. I've been to the one in Del Mar more times than I can count for happy hour. I love their happy hour because my favorite menu items are on special - fish tacos and potato skins. The price must make the food taste better.

Last weekend when I was on a "fish taco" tour of San Diego sponsored by Chevrolet, we stopped at this Brigantine location. We sat outside on the patio, which was nice though some people had direct sunlight on them. The fish tacos were just "ok" actually, but maybe it's because I had just eaten the most awesome fish tacos ever at South Beach in OB, right before we came to the Brig. I thought the Brigs lacked flavor and seemed dry.

I can't comment on the rest of the menu, because I don't really order off of it. I always order fish tacos regardless if I'm sitting in the bar or regular dining area. Will I go back? Probably. Chevy paid the tab, but if I had paid full price, I would have been disappointed.

The La Mesa Brig is the perfect place in East County for a GREAT VALUE happy hour, or a nice dinner date. Family friendly... one of my faves.
