Good contract defense attorney when needed in San Antonio
I had to call an attorney in San Antonio because I was sued there over a disagreement dealing with a contract, although I live in another part of Texas. I asked an attorney in my hometown that was a member of my business trade association, and is a person that I have a lot of confidence in, and he gave me the name of David Bosworth, because he knew he was familiar with business sale contracts. Mr. Bosworth took the lawsuit papers over email, and quickly reviewed the other information I had about the dispute and filed a particular type of answer that complained about the case being heard in San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas, which was a place that I didnâÂÂt live in and did not usually do business in.
He then asked that the lawsuit be transferred to my city, as well as noting that we had rights to an arbitration case. Part of the reason that he was able to get it transferred out of San Antonio and Bexar County was that the contract had to deal with real estate properties in San Antonio as well as real property in other counties, like Comal, Hays, or Travis (Austin). He said he went to court there, and got the judge to order the case out of Bexar County. The judgeâÂÂs order allowed me to start to resolve the case in the local courts, here at home. Mr. BosworthâÂÂs fees were reasonable, about $1800, which saved me from a judgment in Bexar County, Texas.
The recent downturn in the economy has cause a lot of losses for people doing business, particularly if they require SBA financing. Many companies have had to take bankruptcy, and when things go bad, everybody tries to sue the companies that are left. Thankfully, this part of this suit was handled well, and we can wrap this up now.
