Not just another Borders by Tracy G. at InsiderPages
You've been to one Borders, you been to them all, right? Not so fast. There is one exception, and that is the Borders located in downtown Palo Alto. This is the nicest Borders around. Located in an old theatre, you can take your time with a coffee and read through a book in their outdoor area. It's a special place. I highly recommend.

Nice place for books by Kimi d. at InsiderPages
This is my favorite Borders. Even the entrance makes you feel like something good is coming up. The books seem like they were placed by people who care about them. The building is interesting with stairs and nooks. The staff are friendly and the cafe girl is always chatting with the customers. Makes you feel like reading and a good place to discover new authors, too.

Cramped but cool bookstore by Darrin J. at InsiderPages
Borders in downtown (along University) Palo Alto is one of my favorite bookstores in the Bay Area located in an old theatre. It has a good selection but is cramped and as a result often seems crowded. Has a feel fo an old school bookstore with nooks and crannies to explore. The staff are very helpful and pleasant. Being close to all the shopping and restaurants in Palo Alto is a nice plus. Parking can be tough sometimes but this is true for most of downtown Palo Alto.

PROS: Good selection, nice staff
CONS: Parking a problem, cramped

Good Overall Selection by Jenny B. at InsiderPages
This doesn't feel like a typical Borders. There is a nice patio in front where you can sit in the open air and browse through your purchases, and it doesn't feel like the huge bookstore chain that it is. New and currently popular fiction is easy to find.
