Bobs Mission surf is a good shop. They have all the gear of the bigger shops and they also have used and consignment surfboards. I have bought and sold a few boards here and bought a gem of a 7.10 tripple stringer gun that is as much a piece of art as it is a surfboard. They are starting to specialize in SUP - Stand Up Paddle boards and I have been shopping around for one. They also have rental gear for the tourists. Bob also rips up the surf in PB and is a Tourmoline local.

I've been to Bob's a bunch of times in past years but I really never took the time to really talk to anyone and that's because I really didn't have a need to until recently. Bob's Mission Surf Shop has a ton of surf related products neatly and strategically placed so that he utilizes every inch of his store which is located in the heart of PB one block of the ocean. Bob's specializes in stand up paddle surfing (SUP) also known as "beach boy surfing." This is a very old polynesian sport that is regaining popularity recently. It's different than true surfing as the surfer uses a paddle to move through the water while standing on a specially designed surfboard.<br />

I had seen one of Bob's ads in a local magazine and decided to pay his store a visit because I am looking to buy a SUP surf board and paddle to help me better train in the off season for another sport you've probably never heard of, Hawaiian Outrigger Canoe racing. As soon as I walked in Bob greeted me and I began to ask him MANY questions. His answers were very informative and I found myself talking to him for quite a while. Bob SUP surfs daily and definitely knows his stuff inside and out. Bob gave me honest advice in regard to beginner equipment and what I should expect to spend. This is important to me and he picked up on that immediately.<br />

Don't think that SUP surfing equipment is all Bob's Mission Surf Shop has to offer. It's just that majority of surf shops do not carry any SUP surfing gear. Bob's shop has it all. They make their own surfboards under the name Mission Surfboards. They produce variety of shapes as well as custom boards. The shop offers board repair, rentals, lessons and they also have all the accessories and surf wear one would ever want. Bob's shop has a cool old school super friendly vibe and I'd recommend his shop to anyone.

I have visited several surf shops in Pacific Beach/Mission Beach in search of a pair a Rainbows that fit my feet (14 mens) and this is the only place that I have found that carries XXL. This shop is packed from wall to wall with a variety of merchandise, and although I'm not much of a surfer, it seems like a great place.

Rented a foam surfboard here while I was still learning. Pricing was competetive, and the service was good. There were not many boards to choose from, however, because most of them had already been rented out.
