Do yourself a favor - stay away! by Gary G. at InsiderPages
Someone broke out the side window on my car.
Bob's (of LAKE WORTH not DELRAY BEACH) dispatched someone the next day to replace the window. The new window wasn??????t even close to fitting properly.
1st re-visit:
... the installer told me the glass they had installed, ??????wasn??????t cut properly and couldn??????t be made to fit my car.?????? They said they ordered new glass and to come back then.
2nd re-visit:
They had told me to come in, but when I did, the glass wasn't there. Nobody had actually ordered it!
3rd re-visit:
The new glass was in but, the installer now said there was a plastic retainer broken and he couldn??????t fix anything without it. They said they now ordered the retainer.
Question: Was it broken when they put the window in before, and they didn??????t notice then? When did it break?
4th re-visit:
Told they never got the retainer yesterday as promised, wanted to know if I could come back.
5th re-visit:
The installer told me, ??????This is as good as possible for this to fit.??????
The new window made a clunking sound about half way down when moving either direction and still wasn??????t sealing correctly when you raised it.
Later at home, I worked on it myself for 5 + hours. I cut my fingers in four places on the jagged metal edge where someone at Bob??????s Auto Glass had actually taken tin snips and cut away a portion of the door inside, leaving a razor like jagged edge. The new window is not L.O.F. as allegedly ordered but it is still the cheaper generic brand they tried the first time. It is tinted - they got that right this time.
In summary: It took 12 days to have my window fixed, and then only after spending 5+ hours tweaking it myself to fix their mistakes. The window is still the wrong brand and probably not cut correctly either.
I must live with it as is for now. Above all else, I will NEVER use the services of Bob??????s Auto Glass again.
