I went to see this guy two times for the same problem (extreme itching on my arms) and he didn't want to hear anything i had to say but had an instant diagnosis of some latin words that mean "itching". well yeah, i know it itches, but why? I even told him it itched so bad i wanted to burn myself with a cigarette where it itches. He told me I may have a pinched nerve in my neck. I went to see a specialist to have an MRI of my neck and there is nothing wrong, meanwhile, a year later, my arms still itch on and off like crazy so bad i itch until it bleeds!

I had the pleasure of visiting the doctor a few times since last month (January 2008). My first encounter was on the phone with his wonderful office staff, on a Friday. I happen to have the following Monday off from work and needed to see a Dermatologist urgently. The office staff was very accomodating and squeezed me in between other appointments that day. If your appointment is at 3 o'clock, you will be seen at 3 o'clock! There was absolutely no waiting, in the waiting room or in the exam room. Dr. Bernhardt visited with me, listened to my frustration towards my skin condition, which was really disrupting my life. He patiently listened and in a few minutes diagnosed my problem and informed me of the best treatment options. He made no false promises and was very honest with me about the progression of treatment. However, he was very optimistic and reassuring. He said to call him with any questions or concerns. Believe me I did! I had some questions pop in my head throughout my treatment about the medicines I was prescribed and I wanted to ensure I was using them correctly. I would call his office with many questions and he would ALWAYS call me back, before the end of the work day. He also made samples available to me so that I may try out the product to make sure it worked and I did not have an allergic reaction to the medication before I spent money on getting a prescription filled. I feel that he truly cares about the patient and the patient comes first. In four weeks, my skin is truly glowing and blemish free! I hardly recognize my face in the mirror, the results are amazing. He seemed to find the right combination of medicines. Plus he is a very nice person in addition to being a very skilled physician. He always has a smile on his face and a reassuring manner. His office is in a very nice part of town. I would STRONGLY recommend him to my closest friends and family.

Maybe it's just us New Yorkers but I moved down here recently too. Had been treated by a dermatologist in New York and the treatment was always successful. I knew exactly what I needed and how much. However, Dr. Bernhard had his own ideas about how much medication I required and wouldn't give me what I knew was correct. As a result, I had to return 3 times (and was charged the full amount of a visit each time) and was still not given the proper dosage. The doc was much too interested in talking about his personal life and what he was making for his garden to pay attention to providing the proper dosage. I never write reviews but I just had to agree with Brewster. Would definitely NOT recommend this guy to anyone. Needless to say, the situation still hasn't cleared up and I must find another dermatologist. Any recommendations?

I don't know who brewster saw, but that's not MY Dr. Bernhardt. MY Dr. Bernhardt is compassionate and caring and answers all my questions. MY Dr. Bernhardt returns all my calls (though usually at the end of the day since he's so busy taking care of people like me.) MY Dr. Bernhardt can be opinionated, though I guess he's allowed to be since he trained at Yale and Harvard. I do agree that MY Dr. Bernhardt's waiting room is usually empty, but that's because MY Dr. Bernhardt is the only doctor I know who sees his patients at the time of their appointment. My only complaint about MY Dr. Bernhardt is that he has the best selection of waiting room magazines, but I never get a chance to read them because I am always taken in on schedule! That's why I first went to MY Dr. Bernhardt based on my friends' recommendation and that's why I refer all my friends to MY Dr. Bernhardt!

I absolutely DO NOT recommend going to Dr. Bernhardt for any sort of dermalogical issue whatsoever. I recently moved to FL from NY and was told to check up with a dermotologist when I got down here. I TRIED to explain my situation to Dr. Bernhardt and he did not want to hear anything I had to say. He counteracted everything my other doctor (who I've been seeing for 2 years) had ever told me (which in the end, discovered that my original doctor was correct and Dr. Bernhardt had no idea what he was talking about). He perscribed me a medication that made the situation 100% worse. My check was cashed two days after the visit and once that happened he would not return any of my phone calls. All he was only concerned about being paid. He has NO compassion for patients and makes you feel extremely inferior to him. He said he was positive that he knew what it was, did a test for it and when the test came back his exact words were "The test came back negative, but I think the test is wrong". I left his office feeling worse than I ever have by a doctor and will absolutely NEVER recommend him to anyone. My advice is to not waste your time with him or anyone at his office. All it will do is make you frusterated and feel worse than you already do.
