Leo & Vonia Serakos owners of Bernardo Flooring ripped
me off and a lot of other people. They fled the state of California and are now in San Antonio, Texas.

The California State Contractors Licensing Board referred this to the San Diego District Attorney's office for legal action.

Among the finding from the CA State Contractors Licensing Board are:

Abandonment without legal excuse of construction project
Failed to report license changes (they had no license)
Diverted funds or failed to account
Wilful or frauduent act
Exceeded down payment of $1000 or 10% whichever is least; Contractor received/requested more money than work completed (didn't do any work, just took the money)

I don't know what the grand total is these people made
off with but enough to warrant felony charges.

The San Diego District Attorney's Office has now filed charges against Mr. Leo Serakos. His arraignment date is
August 19, 2010. If he fails to appear a warrant will be
issued for his arrest.

Leo Serakos placed his hands on my 87 year old mother, stated that he was not going anywhere and has been in business in RB since 1976. He talked about family and made her feel confident that this was a good man so she gave him a check for $4185 to do all her window coverings. That was a month before the notice of a family illness appeared on his doorfront. The check was cashed, no order placed, no return phone calls, website shut down, business license expired in 1984, contractors license expired on July 4, 2009, .... Where is the truth in all that assurance to the elderly? No shame. An exit from business and maybe even this community was well under way when Leo Serakos placed his reassuring hands on my mother's shoulders.

I am afraid this man is out of business...front door of business says there was a concern for a family health problem. I received no phone call from Mr. Serakos after he cashed my check and closed his doors. I would not recommend patronizing this business...I am positive that when he cashed my check that he had no intention on delivering a product...I am very disappointed in Mr. Serakos. Several phone calls have not been returned...buyer beware with this business...

Bernardo Flooring, Vonia & Leo Serakos, Ranch Bernardo, cashed my check Friday and were out
of business on Monday. They kept my $2,750 that
I am now out and cannot afford to purchase new
carpet. Now I am stuck with in a home I just purchased with filthy old carpeting that needs to be replaced.
My son has asthma and this is not helping. I can't
believe this place stole from me. Iam only giving this
place one star because I had to.
