Business sense?
A friend of mine visiting from Hawaii wanted me to take her to a bead store so after looking for the nearest one, I found the Bead Gallery. My first impression was that they were so busy following me around the store, I felt uncomfortable. Now to be fair, I'll tell you they have some beautiful pieces and while there I signed up for a "silver fusion class" and paid $50. A couple of weeks went by and I received a telephone call about how they had to change the date of the class. I told the woman who called that there was no problem and that when she had enough people for the class to call me back. She did. The day of the class, a Sunday, I left my home an hour before because of all the construction and the 2 lane roads. I hit traffic, so I called the store and explained that I probably would be too late and if it was possible to apply my $50 towards store credit and i would sign up for the next class, the girl who answered the phone said no problem. 5 minutes later I got a call from the woman who teaches the class about how unfair it was to the others and about her waiting list and she went on and on. I don't have $50 to throw away but, finally, I told her to keep the money. This was the same person who told me it was difficult to find people or schedule them into the class. So not only did they get to keep my $50, but I will never spend a penny in their store again. A word to the wise, find another bead store, I have found plenty with very courteous owners/employees who not only are nice but you actually gain discounts with your purchases. Look in Oceanside on Mission Street it's worth the drive.
