Just know what to expect when you go the Beach House. Expect the following: super cheap happy hour with delicious snacks and drinks, an amazing beach front view of the ocean, a lively atmosphere during happy hour, good food for the price and decent service. Also expect that if you're grandparents live locally that they may want to take you there for brunch as they are regulars and they know everyone that works there by name.
My girlfriend took me to the Beach House for the first time the other day. She wanted to take me somewhere that I have never been. She did preface the visit there by saying that it's odd but that I'd probably like the place. Well she was right. I would have never normally stopped into the Beach House because the appearance. The restaurant just literally looks like it hasn't been renovated in 40 years. But then we took a step inside..... and guess what? It HASN'T been renovated in 40 years! :)
After a few minutes the place began to grow on me. The place does have a certain charm to it. The first floor is more of a fine dining establishment with a separate menu from the upstairs areas which is more of a casual "good time" environment. Both levels have spectacular views of the surf and are literally right on the beach. The windows throughout are adorned with wrought iron ornamental fences and banisters, artistic stained glass windows, and cool old school patterned tacky peach carpet.
Our food was pretty good actually and so were the drinks. But for the price they were GREAT! They have insanely cheap happy hour specials that make it worth the stop. And maybe I might even try the brunch sometime that they boast. So if I'm making it sound like your grandparents would love this place, they probably would, or already do. The Beach House has some serious old school charm AND it's easy on grandma's checkbook.
