I ordered a chopped bbq plate, and the meat was lackluster in smoked flavor. It contained many, many pieces of fat mixed into it, as though it were used for a 'filler'. The meat was moist, and the bbq sauce brought-if you ask for it-has a good flavor. Hushpuppies were a nice golden brown old-fashioned cornmeal-flavor treat, and the fries were commendable as well, though the tea was weak in flavor. Service was friendly and courteous, and a bit of an old-fashioned ambience exists. You feel comfortable as soon as you walk in. Note: If you don't care to go in, Barbecue Center has a drive-in area out back with carside service from staff.‎

This is the oldest bbq restaurant in Lexington. It is family owned and has the some of the best bbq in town. The menu also includes other selection including chicken and fish. The restaurant is known for its banana splits. They are huge. They also have hand made ice cream and shakes. The prices are very good and service is excellent. This restaurant has a very laid back feeling and is an enjoyment to dine in.
