Balletiquette Dance Theater School
If you are at all interested in dance, Balletiquette is a place youâ??ve just got to come check out! Although the main focus here is ballet, a wide variety of classes are offered, including hip hop, tap, modern, contemporary, and jazz, not to mention Pilates. This gorgeous studio has two large dance rooms, as well as a fully outfitted Pilates room with a variety of new equipment. In back of the studio there is a lovely patio with a gorgeous view of Mission Bay where parents can relax while their kids are in class. Owner Sylvia Boaz has some serious dancing credentials. She has been a part of several prestigious ballet companies in New York City as well as Washington DC, and has traveled extensively, learning ballet from teachers around the world. As I was talking to Sylvia, her passion for both dancing and teaching was clear. She explained that in her studio she likes to foster a supportive family feel rather than focusing on competition which can create unnecessary drama.
As I observed families coming in to drop their kids off for dance class, I could immediately tell what a close-knit community this is. This summer, they held some exciting camps for the kids which along with dancing, included barbecues and an end of the summer sleepover. In addition to classes, they have a great selection of dance apparel and equipment for sale. Balletiquette offers classes for kids as young as 3, all the way up to adult classes, and welcomes anyone who is interested in becoming involved in the performing arts. I was super impressed. I wish I had found this dance studio when my youngest daughter was taking dance lessons.
