This place is F-U-N! I went here for a buffet brunch one Sunday morning and though the food left something to be desired, the ambiance and the staff were accomodating and F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S.

The brunch came with bottomless mimosas, and that is something easily taken advantage of. My friend who came with drank so many of them that our waitress finally decided to 'skip the middle man' and stop bothering with the OJ. I'm not quite sure how many bottles of champagne we went through, but Ms. Betty definitely doesn't skimp on service or fizzy deliciousness.

I believe this is technically a 'gay' bar or similar, but it's not completely aimed at that demographic. I'm as straight as an arrow (though not always hitting the bullsye...) and felt perfectly at home.

Go before you try to get that analogy. I'm still trying to figure it out myself.

Baja Betty’s is a staple to Hillcrest. And they have great deals every day of the week.
This is a fun Mexican restaurant, with a great theme and design. There are a few outdoor seats, both for dining and the bar area. The inside is quite large, although I am mostly only near the front windows or outside (coincidentally, always sitting closest to the bar).
They offer great happy hour drinks and food, Monday through Friday, 2-6pm. They have deals on the weekends (for brunch and other drink specials) and on certain days of the month (like tequila tasting on the 1st Saturday of every month). But their weekday happy hour is not to be missed. They offer $3 drinks, like wells, beer, margaritas, sangria, and $3 appetizers (non-seafood only) and $3 quesadillas. And these appetizers are usually $7-$10 usually!
The food is yummy, the drinks are strong, and the regulars are always lively.

Ok so I haven't actually had one of these things yet, but they are ginormous. They are so fat that they put a rubber ducky in them when they serve them to you. I want one just so I can say I have had one.

And for tequila lovers, a whole page of their tall double columned menu is for tequila. They usually have pretty good drink specials, and actually have a decent pale ale on tap.

As for food, it's all good. I go for the burrito "wet style." They actually have multiple sauces to choose from for that. They are generally busy, sometimes crowded when parties are going--they reserve the back section for that--but a fun, chill atmosphere all the time.

The servers are chill, classic Hillcrest, and they are super fun, when events go on. One of them did a cartwheel down an aisle one time I was there. Pretty legit.

I like this place.
