The Back 40 is in an old cozy house with cool artsy decorations. The food is fresh, and the beans are very good with just the right amount of spice. Service is friendly, and it's a relaxing place. My friends and I like it.

Under the current ownership of J. Sapp, the state of Florida made them close due to excessive rat droppings found in the kitchen. The chicken is precooked days in advance and microwaved to order much like Taco Bell. Ours was dry, rubbery and very obviously microwaved. The seafood is all cheap imported frozen garbage from China. The small portions seafood are not offset by excessive beans, rice or cheap expired greens. The beans come straight out of a can and sit in a steam table all day long. Most all sauces, dressings, salsa's and soups come straight out of a can also. Ranch dressing and BBQ sauce are considered exotic in this trashy dive and used excessively. Three out of out party of five all became very ill immediately after eating there for the first time. We will never ever go back and will continue to warn people of the danger of eating at this dishonest establishment. In consider myself practically an evangelist for Back 40. I show up here with a different person at least twice a week. They have a burger that's meatloaf and cheddar on a kaiser; they have pineapple jerk quesadilla that's amazing-- salads, wraps, amazing rice and bean bowls, micro-brews, just all around great atmosphere and people. I love it. Super Affordable- a wonderful local meal for less than $10. Go there. Don't miss it.‎
