I used to live overseas so have rented many, many cars on trips back to the US. This is my preferred Avis rental location because it's close to my house. However, the service is always great. You might be disappointed if you walk in because it's small and not a very busy location, they might not have cars for you. I found the checking in and out process easy but I do have Avis Preferred. There is usually one person staffing the entire office so you may wait if someone in front of you is having "an issue". That happened to me once where some lady was pitching a fit about something. But once out of a bunch of rentals is totally acceptable.

They have a key box if you drop off after hours. Also, you can grab coffee at Come on In across the street if you have to wait for someone to pick you up. Sometimes this location is less expensive than SAN, but sometimes it's way off and worth the drive to the airport and the airport tax. It just depends.

Avis never hassles me for a scratch here and there. I would do mini leases or month long rentals so stuff like that was bound to happen. Rate below is what I usually paid for a month.
