don't waste your money
the Arthur Murray franchises thrive on the hard sell. once you walk in the door, they try not to let you leave--at least, not without several hundred dollars in collateral, to make sure you come back.
that would almost be tolerable, if the instructors (at the SB location, at least) weren't so bad. to be fair, i'll apply this review only to their salsa instruction, since it's the only class i tried (and vowed never to come back.) i've taken salsa for a few years now, under the tutelage of some world-class instructors; when i was told that the best Arthur Murray salsa instructor was currently on the dance floor with a student, i scanned for someone who looked like he knew what he was doing, and couldn't find him. he looks like an advanced beginner.
find Joshua James if you want to learn good technique; find Rubio and Solange if you want beginner classes at a good price. if you take salsa at AM, i promise you will never be more than mediocre, but you'll definitely be lighter by a chunk of change.
