Yellowpage add shows "Free service call if repair is made".

My freezer had gone out early 8/20/2010 and I called, Arrow Appliance Repair 361-855-8410, at 8 for a service call. They set appointment from 9-12. I had to leave at 11 so I left my wife to receive service person. The young man arrived at 12:30 PM and did an estimate to fix the problem for $179.00 + tax. My wife said ok and the service was done, in less than 45 minutes total time in the home. The invoice showed "Start relay" amount of $179.00 then $14.76 for a total of $193.76. No description for parts and labor. I called today 8/23/2010 for an explanation of charges. I was told that the quote was accepted so no detail was needed. I pressed for a cost for the "Start Relay" and was told that it was solid state and cost about $80.00.

I called 1st Source Servall Appliance Parts, 361-853-9823, and was quoted a price of $8.57 plus tax for a “Start Relay”. I also called AppliancePartsPro.com, 1-877-477-7278, and asked for a "Start Relay" with a surge protector, solid state for my Kenmore Model #253 9281110 and was quoted a price of $4.60 plus $6.95 for shipping.

I feel that my wife was taken advantage of and we were overcharged for a minor service call. We were charged $14.76 for tax, which would have been for the whole charge of $179.00. I do not beleive that tax is charged for labor and I bet that the tax is not paid to the state. No name or address was shown on the service invoice #779605 dated 8-20-2010. I will check with the State to see how this company pays it's sales tax.

I hate when a company shows BBB on their add and then does business like this.
