Mar 2010: Apex notified me of a 2 hr window, and tech showed up at the start of that window. The dryer that had not worked started right up! However, Andrew explained that this was common; the previous shut-off I had encountered was caused by a weak/old motor being overtaxed, and a protective cut-off occurring to prevent burnout. Andrew demonstrated this, and sure enough, got the same result as I had on Saturday. He went to his vehicle for the replacement motor, only to discover on opening the sealed package that the motor had been damaged in shipment. He returned three hrs later as promised with a new motor, showed me what was wrong with my old motor (very hard to turn due to residue and hair buildup, compared to the free-spinning new motor), and installed the new motor while I went inside.
